Interpretation, Translation & Consulting

Cenzontle provides Spanish<>English interpretation, translation and consulting language services that are rooted in the language justice framework. We don't just provide language services for people who don't speak English. We work with clients to create language justice spaces where people are able to connect and participate regardless of what language they speak.

Below you will find a list of our services. If you’d like to request a service please choose the appropriate request form. You can expect a response from our coordinator within 24 business hours of your request being submitted.

CAN HELP

  • Interpretation

    (Spoken Language)

    Simultaneous interpretation services in Spanish & English for both small and large groups through the use of simultaneous interpretation equipment for in person events and the zoom interpretation feature for virtual spaces. We are experienced in creating multilingual spaces, regardless of how simple or complex the format is. You’ll find us interpreting for community meetings, trainings, workshops, webinars and multi-day conferences.

  • Translation

    (Written Language)

    Written translation services so that all materials are available in both languages. We can translate your internal & external organizational literature,meeting notes, blog posts, presentation materials. We also do transcription and subtitling or other services on a case-by-case basis.

  • Consulting

    (Language Justice)

    Consulting with organizations of all sizes that are seeking to integrate Language Justice principles into their work in order to become more inclusive in their operations and/or culture. We also provide technical training on the use of interpretation services during meetings.

    We do interpreter training and mentorship on a limited basis.

Interpretation

    1. Submit your request here. Please provide all of the information you have so we can be as best prepared to respond to you. Attach any agenda or presentations you may have ready (even if they’re under construction a Google link would be helpful!)

    2. There is an option for an estimate if that is your preference before confirming. Please note last minute events that require an estimate may not be filled due to the quick turnaround time.

    3. Please refer to our listed policies at the top of the page, including our Cancellation and Last Minute policies.

    1. It is our goal to respond to you within 24 business hours. You will get an instant automatic confirmation but keep an eye out for your personalized response from our coordinator.

    1. The coordinator will send you a Language Justice Plan tailored to your event.

    2. The Language Justice Plan is the coordination tool we use to keep things tidy and organized. Please fill this out as you start to gather information about the event. Feel free to share with the appropriate people supporting you on this event. There is a spot at the bottom of this sheet where you can place your materials such as an agenda, presentations, videos, etc- anything yall plan to utilize at this event would be very appreciated!

    1. If this is our first time working together, or if you are contacting us about a large project/event, we may require you to schedule a consultation with our Coordinator. A consultation fee may be applied at the discretion of Cenzontle's manager.

    1. Please keep in touch with any updates that arise with your event leading up to. If it needs to be canceled or rescheduled, please make sure that we are aware of that.

    2. Refer to our Cancellation Policy.

    1. Our interpreters will arrive 15 minutes before your event start time to check in with you and go over the assigning process.

    2. If it’s the day of the event, please communicate any important updates directly with your assigned interpreters as the coordinator may be off.

Translation

    1. Submit your Translation request here.

    2. Please provide your style guide. If you need support on this, let us know. Depending on how thorough of a response you’d like, consultation fees could apply.

    3. If there is insufficient space on this form for your documents/videos, please attach the remainder of your documents to the instant confirmation email you’ll receive. Please avoid submitting a new request for additional materials.

    1. You will receive an automated confirmation, please keep an eye out for your personalized response from our coordinator.

    1. If you are a new client with us, or haven’t worked with us in a while, we may ask you to fill out a style guide. This should be filled out by the person who may have the best grasp on who the audience will be and the appropriate style your documents need to follow.

    1. Documents are typically sent by the end of the day requested unless explicitly stated otherwise.

    2. Last minute fees could apply if there are any edits to the document before we return it to you, including changing to an earlier due date, or any changes to the document while we’re actively translating it.

  • We currently charge our Interpretation services based on an operation sliding scale of $50-$150/hr. In most cases we require a minimum of 2 interpreters, for 2 hours. Any event requested for over that time frame will be charged in increments of 15 minutes.

  • For in person events, equipment and local travel (25 minutes each way in the Asheville area) will be at no extra cost. Extra costs will apply for any travel more than 25 miles one way, and any overnight fees if applicable. If we feel that your event will require us to arrive early for extra setup, we may apply that to your estimate. Our interpreters can travel to other parts of the country or can connect you to local interpreters in your area!

  • Yes, we have simultaneous interpretation equipment. Remember to reach out early for large events so we can ensure enough equipment is available.

  • Our bookkeepers, Power In Numbers, will send their invoice after your event at the close of the month. If you are needing to take care of your payment as soon as possible, or even before your event, please communicate that with us. We also have options to apply credit for any future work.

  • Yes! We rent our zoom account with interpretation already enabled. Please consult with the coordinator after submitting your event.

  • We have, and can cover large events! Reaching out early is key, along with a clear planned timeline. We can go into detail about your event, the days asked, location, overnight, and all of the logistical details by scheduling a consultation with us.
