Everything is Better in Two’s

Why do we require hiring two interpreters for each event?

The act of simultaneous interpretation requires such intense focus and exertion that even the most seasoned expert can anticipate being efficient for only around 20 minutes. Beyond that duration, they must pass the task to another interpreter, take a break, and during this rest period, they stay engaged with the ongoing events while preparing for their next session. Additionally, they may aid their colleague by providing important terminology, names, and essential information.

We require hiring two interpreters to guarantee a quality service while we practice Language Justice. Below we list some of the reasons why your events deserve to have two or more interpreters.

Continuous Coverage: Interpreting for extended periods can be mentally and physically demanding. To ensure high-quality interpretation throughout the entire event, interpreters often work in shifts. While one interpreter is actively interpreting, the other can rest and prepare for their turn, ensuring that both interpreters stay fresh and focused.

Maintaining Accuracy: Simultaneous interpretation requires intense concentration and quick thinking. Having two interpreters allows for continuous accuracy and reduces the risk of errors. They can cross-check each other's work, ensuring that the information conveyed accurately reflects the speaker's intent.

Complex or Technical Content: Events often cover a wide range of topics, some of which may be complex or technical. Having two interpreters allows for better handling of specialized terminology and concepts. They can collaborate and support each other to ensure accurate and nuanced interpretation, especially in fields where precise terminology is crucial.

Handling Challenges: In the case of unexpected challenges, such as technical issues, speaker speaking too quickly, or unclear audio, having two interpreters provides a safety net. If one interpreter encounters difficulties, the other can step in seamlessly, minimizing disruptions and ensuring a smooth interpretation process.

For these and many more reasons, we encourage you to ask us questions about language justice and how we can work together to create successful multilingual events.
